About Dr. Kelly McCoy, MD, FAAD
Kelly McCoy, MD, is a dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon with a special interest in skin cancer treatment, reconstruction, and procedural dermatology. A native Virginian, Dr. McCoy grew up in Fairfax County and graduated from Woodson High School. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where she played soccer as a striker, before returning to the States to earn her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. There, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and recognized as a Dean's Scholar. She completed her internal medicine internship at the University of Virginia and her dermatology residency at St. Luke's University Health Network, where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. McCoy went on to complete an ACGME-accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. C. William Hanke in Indianapolis. During her training she performed an extensive volume of Mohs surgeries and developed deep expertise in reconstructive surgery, scar revision, and blepharoplasty techniques. She also served as adjunct clinical faculty at the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. McCoy is passionate about caring for patients of all ages and helping them feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their skin. She is known for her empathetic, patient-centered approach. Her goal is to achieve the highest cure rates for skin cancer while delivering natural-looking aesthetic results.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. McCoy has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented research at regional and national dermatology meetings, with academic interests spanning skin cancer, dermatopathology, and medical dermatology.
Outside of medicine, Dr. McCoy enjoys trying out new restaurants, biking, reading, puzzling, and traveling—and most of all, spending time with her family, friends, and pets!
